Question: What is a Cylinder ?

Answer:

A Cylinder is a three-dimensional shape whose cross-sections are all circles of the same radius. It could be solid like a stick of rock or hollow like a can. By opening out the label on the can of soup it can be seen that the area of the curved part of a cylinder is given by
Circumference x height = π d x h = π d h.

The Volume of a cylinder is area of the circular base x height
= π r2 x h = π r2 h
