The angle of elevation of an object is the angle which the eye has to be raised through from the horizontal in order to look at the object.

The angle of elevation is congruent to the angle of depression.

In other words, angle of elevation is the angle between a horizontal line and the line joining the observer's eye to some object above the horizontal line.
